VKTRS VI
And so on the night of Superbowl XLIII (43 to those in the know) we're here with another spanking(ly) new issue of Video Killed the Radio Star.
It's here, it's now and we've got even more than Bruce Springsteen for our half time entertainment - we've got a lineup headlined by The Killers, the UK(but real) Guns and Roses, Lady GaGa and a joint billing of James Morrison and Nelly Furtado!
But before we get down to business just a quick plug really; myself and Dave-lar run a student radio show entitled The Weekly Summit. Featuring a section similar in nature to VKTRS (only I read the lyrics out ala Shall I compare thee? styles) in addition to other satirical bits and pieces, we've gone from half an hour every wednesday afternoon to an hour on Thursday, late in the morning at 11am. You can listen to our old podcasts over at our weekly summit section or listen to The Weekly Summit only on xpress radio. It's going to be absolutely ace.
But thats enough plugging jiggery pokery, let's get down to what we've got for you this week eh? Firstly, I've written a piece on The Killers and that song, Human.
Thirdly, Brandon Flowers' statement is grammatically incorrect. Now I am not going to criticise him for this, for all I know he could well be dyslexic (although some would argue that dyslexia is a fictitious "disease" - over 6 million registered cases in the UK and, err, none anywhere else pretty much but we'll get over that one shall we) and suffer from educational disorders.
Moving on Britain has (somehow) been taken over by RadioLady GaGa, and Dave looks at why.
Either that or she has a mouth like a playboy model and for some reason I'd sum that up as having a wide open mouth like those plastic sex dolls you can buy, which is quite a funny thought but I prefer the first idea more.
Carrying on with things that Dave has done, he's also had a look at a (particularly ridiculous) video James Morrison and Nelly Furtado created for Broken Strings.
It really isn't James's day, as now the whole room is on fire. He seems, as ever, unconcerned by the flames liking up all around him. Hey how'd he get his guitar back!
And finally; SWEET CHILD O' MINE!!111!!"!£!!
It could be that Axl Rose is implying he was a victim of brutal child abuse, and he is now passing this on to the next generation.
Until next time,
Tom x

Continuing the theme of Guns n' Roses (well I know we've missed the Chinese democracy boat but then again I'd argue a couple of months is better than the wrong side of a decade) this week Tom has a look at that club-cheese-classic, Sweet Child o' Mine.
Dave has a look at the enlightening video for Broken Strings by James Morrison and Nelly Furtado (who, I read somewhere, counts The Smashing Pumpkins as an influence. Riiiight...)
"Are we human, or are we dancer" - Need I say more? Well, yes, as it would seem.
In which Dave has a look at that veritable number one "tune" Of Argos and Dancefloors by Lady "GaGa" (surely not a birthname that would usually be attributed to a lady of the, er, realm?)
